Ecloga, [1709]; 4 pages small in-4; in Latin. Important poem in Latin. Eclogue of 128 verses dedicated to Cardinal César d'ESTRÉES (1628-1714) : " Ad eminentissimum Cardinalem Cæsarem Estræum ". Huet was very close to the Cardinal d'Estrées, whose death he evokes in his Memoirs: "I was very close to him from the time of my adolescence, we had a taste for the same studies, and we got along wonderfully in all other things. We saw each other very often, when a terrible illness took him away in a few hours, and with him the best part of myself, my support in critical circumstances, my consolation in my afflictions". The poem was published in the Huetiana, or various thoughts of M. Huet, bishop of Avranches (Paris, Jacques Estienne, 1722), among the Carmina, Ecloga VIII (p. 413-418). "Si priscos animis Erato tibi suscitat æstus ; Quales, cum patriis meditanti carmina ripis Suspensos tenuit quondam levis Axona fluctus, Huc ades, ô animæ, CÆSAR, pars maxima nostræ " Provenance : collection of the baron de TRÉMONT (9-22 December 1852, n° 699).
