Seated on a throne bench in a frontal attitude, Mary carries the Child on her knees slightly offset to the right; large head with elongated face and sharp chin; she is wearing a tight-fitting veil resting on her shoulders and revealing a wavy strand of hair at the temples; the Child, with removable head, would have been holding a book with his left hand, which has now disappeared, and is making a gesture of blessing with the other.
