Carved sandstone subject representing one of the king-guardians, or Lokapala, on horseback, wearing his armor. H. 79.5 cm - Width : 59 cm. Accidents, missing parts and restorations. Although this sculpture comes from Thailand, it is of Chinese style, most probably carved by Chinese craftsmen in Siam. Sculptures of this type can be found in Bangkok in some temples, notably the Wat Mahadhara, and in the National Museum in Bangkok. Provenance: Acquired in 1989 from the Lee & Sons gallery, rue de Lille, Paris. Expert: Ansas & Papillon.
