FÉODOROVNA Alexandra, impératrice de Russie, née princesse Charlotte de Prusse (1798-1860)
Glove in beige skin, edged with a white leather border with two small buttons, having belonged to the wife of Emperor Nicholas I (1796-1855), bears the trace of a Russian manufacturer's stamp inside. This precious historical souvenir is accompanied by an autograph letter signed "Tara", 3 pages, in-4°, text in French, explaining the origin of this glove: "Madam, since 1860, this glove is in an album of memories. I cannot tell you enough how pleasant it is to entrust it to you. You understand the cult of the past. It was on the very day after the painful news that, in Tsarskoe Selo, the faithful Mrs. Rohbeck gave me this glove worn by your grandmother, Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, who, like Princess Charlotte of Prussia, had been so particularly kind to my mother that, as long as I have a glimmer of memory, I will keep a deep memory of her. Deferring to the younger generations the respectful affection I had contracted when I was not yet seventy-two years old. I beg you to believe, Madam, that I will keep it until the death of your devoted and respectful Tara. Stains, tears, and foxing. Provenance: Given by the former owner to a member of the Romanoff family, a descendant of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna of Russia, living in France, most likely, Grand Duchess Victoria Feodorovna of Russia. Sale Beaussant Lefèvre, Hôtel Drouot, 13 November 2002. Massol sale, Hôtel Drouot, 6 December 2010.
