BEAUTIFUL SET FORMING A GARNITURE In brown-green... - Lot 97 - Drouot Estimations
BEAUTIFUL SET FORMING A GARNITURE In brown-green patinated bronze and in chased and gilt bronze, in two tones of matt and burnished gold, on green marble bases. It is composed of: -A QUANTITY HANGER, in the form of a Medici vase, the enamel dial by BACHELARD in Paris, the handles in the shape of a young woman carried by scrolls, the removable lid pierced with palmettes and topped with a sheath. Attributed to Pierre-Philippe Thomire (1751-1843) or more probably to Claude Galle (1759-1815). Around 1810. H. : 57 cm. - L. : 20 cm. Unverified operation, no guarantee. Suspension with lamellae brought back. -A PAIR OF BRUDE-PARFUM VASES decorated with a dance of Maenads, the handles in head of faun, the removable lid pierced, topped with an acorn. Attributed to Claude Galle (1759-1815). Around 1810. H. : 44,5 cm - W. : 15,5 cm. Missing a lateral motif on a base. Model of the clock : Several motifs are directly related to the "Grand Vase" with a "beau bleu" background designed by Boizot in 1783 (inv. OA 6627), in particular the female figures made by the bronzier Pierre- Philippe Thomire (1751-1843). A drawing of our clock was engraved pl. 22 of the Recueil de la Mésengère, "Collection de Meubles et objets de goût", 1807. Same clock: At the Château de Fontainebleau (Samoyault, "Pendules et bronzes d'ameublement entrés sous le Premier Empire", n° 47, p. 81). Bibliography : Similar clock : Niehüser, French bronze clocks, p. 262, ill. 1311. Similar vases : Ottomeyer, Vergoldete Bronzen, 1986, p. 384, n° 5.12.9.
