Horizontal sundial, portable. Octagonal silver plate (950) with indexes engraved with Roman and Arabic numerals, with compass and triangular style, tilting, with birds, folding, on a spring blade engraved with leaves. Signed. On the reverse side, the names and latitudes of twenty-six European cities and on the back of the compass, the indication "Premier cadran". Late 17th or early 18th century. H. (unfolded) : 3,3 cm - Dim. plate : 6,5 x 5,7 cm - Gross weight : 34 g. Wear and small oxidations; some chips on the compass glass. Michael Butterfield (1635-1724), of English origin, worked in France from 1677.
