FRANCE Joseph LAMOTTE L'ainé à Saint Etienne.
Pair of flintlock hunting pistols, two-shot. Flintlock locks, signed "Jh LAMOTTE L'ainé à Saint Etienne", and round-bodied swan-necked hammers. Smooth, flanged barrels, the upper one rounded, then round, in table form, engraved with gilded scrolls and flowers. Calibre 13 mm. Walnut barrels carved with asymmetrical leaves and flowers, mirrored from one gun to the other. Silver thumb pieces (950) in the form of a leafy cartouche under a laurel wreath. Cut iron fittings, underlined with fillets. Pommels with splints. With a ramrod and iron end caps. Louis XV period, circa 1750. Length of barrels : 18,2 cm - Total length : 33 cm. Large glued chip and another one, missing, on one of the barrels, scratches, small shocks and small chips of use to the barrels; oxidations, points of corrosion with a thunder; eatings with the rod. Joseph LAMOTTE, known as the Elder, active in Saint Etienne between 1750 and 1790.
