Caesar's cup, known as Canthar of Alesia. Proof in silvered bronze. Signed under the handles "Désiré Attarge Fit" on one side and "Maison F Barbedienne Paris" on the other. From the cup kept in the museum of archaeology of Saint Germain en Laye (circa 58 BC - 5th century) - found in 1862 during excavations undertaken at the request of Napoleon III in Alise-Sainte-Reine. Drawing attributed to Servin in 1869. H. 11.8 cm. - L. : 19 cm. Small bumps on the neck and under the base, some wear to the patina. Threaded hole to be mounted on a pedestal (absent) under the base.
