MONET Claude (1840-1926)
Signed autograph letter addressed to Auguste RENOIR S.l., June 2, 1909, 2 pages in-8 in ink on letterhead "Giverny by Vernon Eure". (Traces of folds). Monet thanks Renoir for having sent him a "pretty medallion". This letter, written in the year of the important exhibition at Durand- Ruel Les Nymphéas. Séries de paysages d'eau, already testifies to the painter's incipient blindness. Some passages are barely visible and are written in a very large handwriting: "My dear Renoir, your beautiful medallion has finally reached me. I was a little afraid that you had forgotten your promise. Monet encourages Renoir to visit him. "I often hear from Germain about you, he thought [...] that you were planning to come to Paris soon, he even thought that you were planning to come to Giverny, it would be a great pleasure for us. I sincerely hope that this intention will come true.
