MAGRITTE René (1898-1967)
Set of 7 letters and 4 signed autograph postcards addressed to Aline GONNE 1961-1964, 7 letters in-8 (13 pages in ballpoint pen) on headed paper "Rue des Mimosas, Brussels" and 4 postcards. Signed autograph correspondence addressed by Magritte to his cousin Aline Gonne. "Thank you for your letter and the information about our family. I didn't know that she came to Belgium during the French Revolution and that her name was Margueritte at that time. Perhaps the change of name was desirable in order to avoid, for example, Margueritte remaining on rue des Mimosas [...]"; "This article being an example of ignorance of which "art critics" are rarely without. According to the author of this article, Van Rysebbeg painted "like Picasso," which would be tantamount to saying that Napoleon, for example, had ambitions like Hitler...". Enclosed is an autograph letter from Georgette, Magritte's wife, and three postcards.
