Based on an ancient model. Crater vase on a pedestal, decorated with scales and a frieze of leaves, made of bronze with a brown patina; the body is decorated with two friezes on two registers, one depicting mythological figures and the other winged female figures holding shields (or wheels?) and the shoulder featuring a godron frieze. Handles in coiled forms ending in two hanging ribbons. H. 40.5 cm. Signs of wear, scratches, some oxidation, particularly on the pedestal. Some versions of this model bear the signature of the Barbedienne firm. Possibly used to conceal a kerosene lamp reservoir.
