[MANUSCRIT]. [HAUTE-MARNE] [LANGRES] Liturgy (part of a Processional?) at compline for the deceased led by cantor Prudence de Récourt. In Latin, illuminated manuscript on parchment. First quarter of the 16th century. 14 ff, several gaps, notably between ff. 12v-13, gap at end of manuscript, tear in one leaf (fol. 3) with missing music, two hands: gothic script (hand 1) and finer gothic script (hand 2), red and black ink, headings in red, music notated square on 4-line staves drawn in red ink, numerous red or blue initials (1 to 2 lines high), initials in liquid gold on blue or dark red backgrounds, illuminated border (fol. 1) with putti, vases, acanthus leaves, ornaments on gold backgrounds. Modern binding, cardboard, damaged. Edges faded, some faces repainted. Missing parts. Nevertheless, an interesting manuscript. Size : 330 x 235 mm. Prudence de Recourt or Récourt was a cantor in Langres. The coat of arms of the de Récourt family, established in Langres, is presented by a cherub in the outer illuminated border (fol. 1). A member of the same family, Jeanne de Recourt is depicted in a parchment portrait inserted in a Book of Hours (London, BL, Add. 31240). This manuscript is interesting because it was produced during the great period of artistic flourishing in Langres in the 16th century, as studied in the catalog Caumont, O. (dir.), "Langres à la Renaissance", Langres, 2018. Long opening heading: "Sequitur nobilis et circumspecti domini ac magistri Prudentii de Recourt in utroque licentiati canonici et thesaurarii lingonensis fundatio: que annuatim die sabbati sancta sequenti forma debet fieri. Videlicet completorio in ecclesia lingonensis cantato. Collegium legitimo cessante impedimento ad cymiterium cappelle sanctorum symonis et vide apostolorum proficiscitur sermocinationem illic fieri solitam auditurum...".
