Initially founded in 1827 by Jean-Alexandre Pâris, the King's jeweler in the Place du Palais Royal, the Manufacture de cristallerie-émaillerie de Bercy became the Manufacture Saint-Joseph du Bourget some forty years later, through inheritance by his son, Charles-Emile Pâris.
He retained the technical processes perfected in his father's time, and considerably expanded production, offering in particular the famous enamelled vase-gardeners in imitation of Rouen's blue and red earthenware, which met with great success in the second half of the 19th century.
