PRUSSIAN EMPIRE (?) Cast iron spade or esponton point, openwork and engraved on one side, decorated with a Prussian-style double-headed eagle, crowned by three open-porch towers topped by a star. The truncated cone-shaped socket is ringed and decorated with zigzags. H. 28.4 cm. Some cracks; uniform rusting. Note that the three-tower composition with open porch, topped by a star, is largely based on the coat of arms of the town of Blovitz (Blowice), district of Plzen, Bohemia. Bohemia was at one time annexed, along with Moravia, to the Prussian Empire (from 1866). Today, Blovitz is in the Czech Republic.
