FRANCE, First Empire (1804-1815) Two officer's pistols. Unsigned, flat-bodied flintlock locks, modified to capsule percussion by a commercial craftsman, and later, flat-bodied hammers. Octagonal barrels, one still blackened, with thunderbolts underlined by a frieze of engraved and gilded leaves and with oval Palmes and "LC" [Saint Étienne proofhouse] hallmarks. Crowned "M" stamp on one side. Smooth. Cal. 18 mm. Long walnut shafts with squared grips. Cut-out and engraved iron fittings. Small lug bridges. Pommel with octagonal cap and plain table (slight differences in size). Barrel length: 13.7 cm - Overall length: 26 cm. Without sticks. As is. Scratches and dents, some deep; hard dog springs; crushed mantels; oxidation on metal parts, some cleaned.
