FRANCE, 19th century Gilded metal menagère set (reassembled), Rocaille model, including : - Twelve entremets cutlery sets, with violin spatula, with uniface decoration of foliate filets, and a shell and fleurons. - Six cheese knives, five with steel blades marked "Paris" or "E.G. à Paris". One blade replaced. - Six fruit knives, gilded blades. The handles are lined with violins and decorated with shells, flowers and oval medallions. Goldsmith's hallmarks: MAILLECHORT or C. & C. [lion]. Wear, scratches and a few knocks; blade fastenings to be reviewed, particularly for the fruit knives. In a 19th-century brown grained leather case, embossed on the lid (wear).
