IMPORTANT Louis XVI style Carrara marble and gilt bronze Mantelpiece. Composed of a clock and a pair of candelabras on cubic bases adorned with bas-reliefs of allegories with putti. The clock features a horizontal rotating dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, set in a covered pedestal vase. The handles are each formed by two entwined snakes, and the simulated pinecone grip. At the base, a putto holding an arrow indicating the hours, is flanked by the Minerve coat of arms. The five-light candelabra feature a putto holding a cornucopia from which emerge branches of rosebushes in bloom. Pendulum: H.: 84 cm - W.: 27 cm. Candelabra: H.: 83 cm - W.: 29 cm. Chipped marbles, small chips and parts to be refixed, some oxidation and wear to the bronzes. Accidental arrow.
