ASTONISHING COMPOSITE SKELETON CLOCK. The unsigned white enameled annular dial features hour markers with Roman numerals and minute markers with scale and Arabic numerals in black. Centered by a six-pointed star in white enamel on copper. Framed by a laurel wreath and topped by a woman's head on a radiant background. Gilded brass openworked hands. The bridge-mounted movement is mounted on two reclining sphinxes, with caparison and tasselled cushion, framing a mound with two doves and the arms of Love, in gilded bronze, on a molded, gray-veined white marble base, with lateral projections, adorned with flowers and foliage friezes and resting on six spinning top feet, also in gilded bronze. Gilt bronze wire suspension with pendulum featuring a young woman in a basket of flowers. The ends of the bridge are adorned with foliate violin rocaille cartouches. 43.5 x 37.5 x 15.5 cm. Wear, scratches and points of oxidation to the gilding, a few cracks to the bronze, a few old holes to the laurel leaves, one foot to be refixed; cracks and chips to the enamels, notably to the star; chips to the marble; mechanism to be revised. This clock appears to be a combination, probably made in the 19th century, of a steeple-type bridge movement with elements from the replacement of several clocks: a base and laurel branches partly from the Louis XVI period, an annular dial and a pendulum from the first third of the 19th century, with complements, notably the reverse of the dial, the star, the stamp, certain parts of the movement...
