FRANCE, mid-18th century A molded walnut tomb chest of drawers with a moving front and sides, opening with three drawers. The front jambs are carved with long leaves and a medallion centered on a flower, and stand on four scrolled feet. The front crossbeam is underlined by a leafy molding, and the sides have a staggered brace molding. Louis XV period, provincial work. Rocaille ormolu trim. Later top, to be refixed. Hinges on the back of the rear legs. 85.5 x 119.5 x 58 cm. Wear, stains, scratches, bumps, a few cracks and wormholes; bottom of one drawer restored.
