Silver centerpiece (800) modeled after the Fontana delle Tartarughe in Piazza Mattei, Rome. Composed of a central basin on a pedestal with four young men leaning against it, their feet resting on dolphins above a small basin, one arm raised towards a turtle. Base marked "800" several times, hallmarks crossed out. No goldsmith's hallmark. Repoinçonné au Cygne. Brass or metal axles, bolts and nuts. Later wooden base cut to shape. Gross weight (without base): 5.636 g. - H.: 33.8 cm - W.: 32 cm. A few scratches, bumps and small tears to the base; some nuts replaced. This centerpiece can be compared with the production of the Maison Tavani, in Rome, which issued a series of similar finger-rinses in 1947.
