PERSIA, late 19th or early 20th century Jambyia dagger. Gilded iron handle with four lugs, engraved with interlacing friezes and floral cartouches. Blade slightly curved towards the tip, with two cutting edges and two median ridges. Gold-inlaid decoration of stylized flower vases on the heel. With scabbard, wood-cored and sheathed in black cloth, in gold damascened iron with scrolls and fleurons, and ornate ribbons (reported too long). Blade length: 32.6 cm - Scabbard length: 37.2 cm - Total length: 54 cm. As is. Wear to gilding and decorations; a few minor knocks to blade; scabbard to be reattached, fabric very worn, cut and incomplete.
