Charles de Vilmorin is a fashion designer and graduate of the Chambre syndicale de la couture parisienne. In April 2020, he launched his own label and presented his first haute couture collection in January 2021. For the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics, he makes costumes to dress one of the show's tableaux. For "Les Uniques", Charles de Vilmorin opted for a méridienne that he covered with a made-to-measure fabric. "I'm passionate about decoration and I really want to explore this universe further. I loved the idea of personalizing a piece of furniture. For me, it's a natural progression from textiles to interior design." Working with a Lyonnais craftsman, the designer developed a soft, highly textured, made-to-measure jacquard of silk, wool and mohair, used in the exceptional looks of his Haute couture 2024-2025 collection. The allure of the méridienne has been totally transformed. Charles de Vilmorin himself designed the fabric's patterns, where crossing threads create a play of colors: touches of orange, red, pink and purple intermingle. "I wanted to preserve the functional and comfortable aspect of this chaise longue, while making it desirable. This project allows me to cross disciplinary boundaries and offer something new, while supporting a cause close to my heart." Press Kit - January 2025, Les Uniques, A creative solidarity capsule featuring eight talented designers, La Redoute.
