BAVIERE, Nuremberg, 17th-18th centuries Wrought-iron "corsair" chest, with riveted bands forming a grid, with remnants of green-black paint. Front adorned with a false star-shaped lock, with two rectangular, movable, split lugs fitting over the two lugs with rings, fixed to the edge of the lid, and allowing the addition of an iron bar for a padlock (missing). Lock entrance on top of lid, but riveted obstruction cover. Riveted, openwork lock protection plates decorated with foliate friezes. Two strong, movable, partially twisted side handles. The interior, formerly painted green-black, features an eclipette (closed), without compass. H. 47 cm - lid size 87 x 48 cm. Lock mechanism, key and part of the edge of the lid with rectangular tab missing; a few holes, tears and accidents to the metal, notably to a ring tab, to be reattached; a few missing parts; oxidation.
