Graphite and pastel drawing on cut paper applied to bluish paper. Unsigned. On the back, handwritten inscription identifying the subject. Design: 11.7 x 8.4 cm (at sight) - Frame: 27.2 x 24.2 cm. Wear and a few stains. Rectangular gilded frame with oval view in molded wood and molded plaster, decorated with palmettes and spandrels, early 19th century (wear, cracks, bronzes, chips and missing parts). The dates on the back of this profile are those of medallist and engraver Jean-Pierre Droz (1746-1823), from Neuchâtel and France. A Droz de Charmont, a clerical advisor to the Besançon Parliament, is referenced in the works of Jean-Marie Thiebaud. There seems to be some confusion between the two men.
