Single-branch hilt and brass plate with openwork flower scrolls and stock quillon. Horn spindle and braided brass filigree. Single-edged blade with two hollow sides and two gutters, finished with a counter-edge, with rounded back, signed and dated "Septembre 1877". The first third of the right side is decorated with etched foliage, with the officer's name and the date the weapon was received "Louis DEVAUX octobre 1877". Heel signed with the maker's name. Model 1882 black-painted iron scabbard with one strap and one ring. Brown leather strap. Blade length: 77.3 cm - Total length: 94.7 cm. Wear, notably to the gilding, a few scratches and bumps; numerous small cracks and a few chips to the spindle; green oxidation to the pommel. Michel SPIQUEL, fourbisseur in Belgium, then in Paris from 1852. He took part in the 1855 Universal Exhibition.
