ALLEMAGNE, fin du XVIème siècle
Saint Marguerite in carved and polychromed basswood, back roughened.
Her hair is held in place by a diadem of large pearls, an allusion to her name (margarita, Latin for pearl).
The saint is wearing a dress with a square-necked justaucorps and a mantle, one flap of which comes back to the front, with the dragon lying at her feet; she would have been holding a cross in her right hand (no longer present), a palm in her left.
H. 65 cm.
Wooden terrace, mounted.
Some missing parts, including the right hand.
