Attribué à René Lalique Piece of jewelry in silver (min. 800) with two midnight-blue enameled bats in flight, surrounded by light-blue enameled stars. Gross weight: 8.4 g. - Size: 2 x 4 cm. Missing enamels, transformations, incomplete. Provenance : Eugénie Meurlot-Chollet built the Villa Pax in Boulouris-sur-Mer at the end of the 19th century. An artist herself and pupil of Jules Chéret, she was one of the muses and great ambassadors of René Lalique's jewelry. In her villa in the south of France, she welcomed close friends such as Sarah Bernhardt, Alphonse Mucha and Raoul Dufy, as well as Natalie Clifford-Barney, a wealthy American and great lover of Lalique jewelry, whose sister bequeathed her collection to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. In this collection, the silver, blue enamel and opal ring adorned with a bat, a symbol of homosexuality, had been given to her by Liane de Pougy. The current owner's aunt and uncle bought the Villa Pax from Jenny Meurlot-Chollet's niece, Mathilde Chollet, who lived in the villa until her death. On December 16, 2022, Drouot Estimations sold three pieces of jewelry from the same provenance.
