Important terminal clock featuring the figure of Virgil, leaning against manuscripts of the Bucolics, Georgics, Aeneid, in ormolu and patina. Base in sea-green marble veneer, quadripod with ormolu ornaments. Mid 19th century. Dial and spiral-wound mechanical movement, signed "L'EPEE", later. 74 x 53 x 21.5 cm. All three parts to be reattached, without threaded rods. Wear, scratches and some oxidation; small holes; some chips.
