Alphonse DAUDET (1840-1897) autograph notebook for La Fédor, [1895]; notebook in-12 (17 x 11 cm) of 24 pages (the rest blank), black waxed cloth cover. First draft sketches for La Fédor (published in 1896 by Guillaume under the title L'Enterrement d'une étoile). The notebook (with the mark of Chélu & Bénard) has been used head to tail. The pages are filled with a very distorted handwriting due to the disease, with erasures and corrections. This first version is very different from the final text. The beginning of the notebook is related to chapter II, and tells about the funeral of Fedor and Desvarennes' drunkenness before the funeral ceremony: "His glass was full to the brim, he emptied it with one gulp, sobbing, and then collapsed on the table... Further on, preparatory notes: "Here only the story of the little baker and his wife"... "gave herself to a student's tea"... "a charity party at the English embassy" .... Turning over the notebook, under the title La Chaise à porteurs, a sketch of a short story featuring Mrs. Meyer, her general husband and their son Hubert, a Saint-Cyrien, as well as their niece Noëlie...
