Cleaned-up manuscript of the beginning of the novel Sapho (Charpentier, 1884), incomplete: pages 2 to 7 and 13 to 25, 28 to 30, 32 to 35 and 37 to 42, that is to say most of chapter I, from "Étranger à tout ce monde de peintre" to "et des colloques à voix basse"; chapter II (without the first page); chapter III, from "On s'occupa des meubles" (except for one missing page). The manuscript, cleaned up on the front of sheets of lined paper, presents some erasures and corrections.
