Beautiful clock with revolving circles in chased and gilded bronze in the form of a truncated conical vase, covered, on a pedestal decorated with a snake rising and topped by a coiled snake, with two handles in the Greek style, holding heavy garlands of laurels.
The base in fluted column, truncated, with large hanging drapery, on a torus of nets punctuated with crossed ribbons and on a square base.
Two horizontal annular dials alternating diamond-shaped or oval quartefoils and rectangular cartouches enamelled in white on copper, with Roman or Arabic numerals, painted in blue, for the hours or minutes, indicated by the tongue of the snakes' heads.
Mechanical movement with key winding
The body signed "Furet, Horloger du Roy, Paris".
Louis XVI style, second half of the 19th century.
H. 58 cm. - Base : 21,5 x 21,5 cm.
Movement to be revised, not working.
A few shocks to the lid's rabbet, closing badly.
Wear, stains, small oxidations and some scratches to the gilding; some jumps and small chips to the enamel of the cartouches.
Our clock is a copy dating from the 19th century of a model by Robert OSMOND, declined by various clockmakers, including Jean-Baptiste André FURET.
Several versions of FURET's revolving circle clocks are known with a vase and snakes.
