AFRIQUE, Congo, XXème siècle Red or twool blush box in brown wood in the shape of a half moon, decorated on three sides with geometric motifs imitating weaving, or with zig-zag or frieze of leaning triangles. The lid is decorated with the typical flared triglyph motif. Kuba tribe. 7.3 x 32.5 x 14.5 cm. The lid is veiled; wear and important missing parts, some woodworm damage. Provenance: Collected by a Frenchman in mining cooperation in the 1950s-1960s.
