The novel was adapted to the cinema by Otto Preminger with Frank Sinatra. The manuscript, in violet or blue ink, presents numerous erasures and corrections, with passages crossed out. The title page (a bit faded) is decorated with an original drawing by Vian. The manuscript is paginated 2-369, 1-9 (typescript for Les Temps modernes), 707-774.
