BURKINA FASO Couple of statues. Lobi. Wooden. Pair of statues representing a man and a woman standing. The woman's head is turned to the left, her arms along her body, her navel protruding. The man is standing upright, holding a flute to his mouth and clasping it in his hands. The faces are characteristic of the style of the sculptor Lunkena Pale, who was active in the mid-twentieth century: the eyes are marked by semi-circular arches, the bridge of the nose is thin and the nostrils wide, the mouth is straight.
