FRANCE, première moitié du XVIIIème siècle Pair of flintlock pommel guns. Flat-bodied swan-necked locks and hammers; one lock signed MEUNIER. Smooth, round, beaded barrels at the muzzle, then banded to the thunder, with arabesque decoration, with gray-black patina (re-colored). Cal. 14 mm. Shafts and stocks in reverted walnut, engraved with fillets and carved with leaves and flowers. Brass fittings, including counterplate and long-tailed pommel decorated with figures, trophies and a chimera mask, and en suite thumb pieces with profile of man in medallion under crown. Later sticks with horn tips. Barrel length : 25 cm. - Total length: 41 cm. Weapons cleaned. Scratches to the varnish, chips and missing parts to the rear of a lock, the two stocks damaged, one possibly retracted, and some cracks to the barrels, notably to the noses; some shocks to the barrel mouths and to the fittings, notably to the rear of a trigger guard, with a possible weld.
