GOUNOD Charles. MUSICAL MANUSCRIPT autographed "Ch. Gounod", 3rd Symphony (1890-1892?); title and 40 pages in-fol. Unfinished symphony and orchestral pages. The 3rd Symphony [CG 552; Condé p. 903- 904] remained unfinished. The manuscript, undated, is written in black ink on Lard-Esnault paper with 26 staves; there are a few corrections by scratching. It includes:- an Andante molto maëstoso in C major at 3/4 (5 p.); a Moderato in C minor at 2/4 of 133 bars (p. 6-22), and finally an Andante in A flat major at 6/8 (p. 23-40). Two autograph manuscripts of orchestral pieces are attached: - Fête de Nuit (après la chasse) Fantaisie symphonique [CG 538; Condé p. 894] (1874, title and 3 p. in-fol.); - Ronde de Lutins (Goblin Dance) [CG 548; p. 932] (1874, title and 3 p. in-fol., purple ink). Plus draft of an unfinished Quartet in C major [CG 570] (title and 3 p. in-fol.).
