GOUNOD Charles.
2 autograph musical manuscripts, Athalie, [1866].
Project for an operatic adaptation of Racine's tragedy, with its libretto [CG 18].
 - Libretto for Athalie, "lyric tragedy in 3 acts (after Racine)" (16 ff. in-fol.), with l.a.s. from the author De LA FOREST, Versailles 5 June 1866 (2 p. in-fol.). The libretto, by a copyist, is annotated by the author.
- Tout l'Univers, "choir with harps, trumpets, flutes, cymbals and bass drum", unfinished: "Tout l'univers est plein de sa magnificence"... (3 pages of a first version; title and 4 pages folio).
 - D'un cœur qui t'aime, duet for soprano and contralto, with accompaniment by 2 horns, strings and piano, moderato in C in D major, first performed on 11 February 1882 in a private audition at the home of Marie Trélat, then at the Conservatoire on Good Friday and Saturday 1882 by Gabrielle
Krauss and Mlle Engally [CG 376]. "The melodic design [...] remains of a very interior expression and one finds the repetitive, bewitching character of an endless, suspended litany, whose modulations do not alter the serenity. This is a truly inspired page, whose ideal simplicity, enhanced by the varied arpeggios of the piano, is immediately striking" (Condé p. 670-671). Autograph manuscript of the contralto part (2 p. in-fol.); autograph orchestral material in 7 parts (1 page in-fol. or 3 p. in-4 each): horn in F and horn in D, 1st violin, 2nd violin, violas, cellos, double bass (in duplicate); orchestral score by a copyist (22 p. in-fol.), plus the material by a copyist
