Imperial present of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia.
56 zolotniks (583 thousandths) carved gold brooch decorated with the imperial eagle of Russia, centred on a pink-cut diamond, surrounded by a stylized ribbon in translucent blue enamel guilloché with grains of rice, on which stands out the coat of arms of the city of Dunkirk and the date "17-18 September 1901", corresponding to the dates of Nicolas II's and Alexandra Féodorovna's visit to this same city.
Very good condition, light welds.
Engraved on the back of the dedication: "To Madame / Marie
Leroy", identifying its recipient.
St. Petersburg, 1899-1903.
Goldsmith: most probably FABERGÉ, we can see a master punch in the enamel (possibly Michael PERCHIN's Cyrillic M.P.).
Preserved in its original case covered with red leather and stamped with the imperial golden metal eagle, from the Imperial Cabinet of Tsar Nicholas II.
Brutto weight: 15,85 g. - Height: 3.7 cm.

Provenance:
Present of Emperor Nicholas II of Russia to Madame
Marie Leroy in September 1901, on the occasion of the Tsar's and Tsarina's visit to Dunkirk.
It is possible that Madame Leroy was one of the bazennes (wives of the fishing bosses of Dunkirk) who participated in the handing over of a gilt fish to the Tsarina on 17 September 1901.
