This plan is similar to that of Zhou P'ei-ch'unde, dating from 1865, but in addition, it has been carefully designed to represent buildings, bridges, waterways and gardens. A plan drawn up, rotogravated and published by the Army's Geographical Service, dating from 1900, seems to be inspired by the 1865 plan. (See Harvard Library Collection).
