This poem of 5 quatrains was published in Les Nouvelles littéraires on April 5, 1945, under the title 25 August 1944. The very first draft, autographed draft, in black ink, contains many deletions and corrections, and hesitations about the title: "The riot of", "The night of the 25th". The sharpening, in black ink, has two corrections. "Lying trees were making fake green forests and suddenly Paris at the end of its nerves lit up its windows wide open and the bells of Notre Dame des Victoires rang...".. The issue of Les Nouvelles Littéraires of 5 April 1945 is attached, with the poem published on the first page.
